Germany wins gold in 500-meter kayak four
BEIXIAOYING TOWN, China -- Germany has won the women's 500-meter kayak four to defend its Olympic title.
Nicole Reinhardt, Fanny Fischer, Katrin Wagner-Augustin and Conny Wassmuth won on Friday in 1 minute, 32.231 seconds. Fischer and Wagner-Augustin were part of the gold medal foursome at the 2004 Athens Games, and Reinhardt was one of four German Olympic athletes who posed for the September German issue of Playboy, each getting a cover.
The Hungarian team of Katalin Kovacs, Gabriella Timea Szabo, Danuta Kozak and Natasa Janic won silver in 1:32.971.
The Australian foursome of Lisa Oldenhof, Hannah Davis, Chantal Meek and Lyndsie Fogarty took bronze in 1:34.704.
