KRAKOW, Poland -- Czech ski jumper Jan Mazoch left a Polish
hospital Wednesday and headed to Prague to continue his recovery
from injuries sustained in a crash during a World Cup event.
Mazoch, his right eye socket still severely bruised, was moved
from a wheelchair onto a stretcher and into an ambulance at
Krakow's University Hospital for the journey to Prague's military
He looked gaunt, but alert, and waved goodbye to nurses and
hospital officials as he was put into the vehicle.
The 21-year-old Mazoch sustained brain injuries during a World
Cup meet Jan. 20 in Zakopane. He was kept in a medically induced
coma for several days to control brain swelling.
