PARK CITY, Utah -- Former Norwegian assistant coach Erik Renmaelmo has joined the U.S. women's ski jumping team as a traveling coach.

Renmaelmo will work with Alan Alborn, the U.S. women's head coach the past 2½ years. Alborn is based in Park City, Utah, where most of the Americans live and train. Renmaelo is based in Lillehammer, Norway, and will accompany the Americans to World Cup events. The World Cup season begins Dec. 6 in Lillehammer.

Alborn says Renmaelmo is a "dynamic addition," adding that most of the Americans already know him from his work with the Norwegians. Renmaelmo replaces Paolo Bernardi, who resigned last week to return to his native Italy.

The Americans are the world's top-ranked team going into the Sochi Games, where the sport will make its Olympic debut.
