FORTALEZA, Brazil -- Maicon will start in Brazil's defense instead of Dani Alves when the host team faces Colombia on Friday in the World Cup quarterfinals.

Maicon has yet to play at this year's tournament.

Also, Paulinho will replace suspended defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo, who was shown his second yellow card in the second-round match against Chile.

James Rodriguez, who scored twice against Uruguay at the Maracana Stadium in the second round, is in the lineup as expected.

Brazil: Julio Cesar; Maicon, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Marcelo; Paulinho, Fernandinho, Oscar; Neymar, Hulk, Fred.

Colombia: David Ospina; Cristian Zapata, Mario Yepes, Pablo Armero, Juan Camilo Zuniga; Carlos Sanchez, Fredy Guarin, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Victor Ibarbo; James Rodriguez, Teofilo Gutierrez.
