Kahn vows to carry on despite World Cup disappointment
FRANKFURT, April 10 - German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn vowed on Monday to carry on as an international despite missing out on the number one spot for the 2006 World Cup.
"I think it's important for the national team for me to be there, despite my disappointment," Kahn told a news conference in Munich.
Coach Juergen Klinsmann settled Germany's long-standing goalkeeping question on Friday when he revealed that Jens Lehmann of Arsenal would be the number one for the hosts for the June 9-July 9 tournament.
Kahn has played 84 times for the World Cup hosts while Lehmann has won 29 caps.
The Bayern Munich keeper captained Germany to the final of the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.
