MOSCOW -- German Skurygin, a former champion race walker implicated in doping, has died. He was 45.
Skurygin had a heart attack and died Friday night, the Russian track and field federation said. He reportedly died in his hometown of Izhevsk.
Skurygin won the silver medal in the 50-kilometer race at the 2003 World Championships in Paris.
In 1999, he won gold in the 50K at the 1999 worlds in Seville, Spain. He was stripped of the medal after failing a doping test.
