STOCKHOLM -- Tyson Gay will meet Asafa Powell of Jamaica in a highly anticipated matchup in the 100 meters next Friday in the DN Gala meet.
The American clocked the fastest time of the year when he won in 9.77 seconds in Rome last week. Powell was second in 9.88.
Six other sprinters who will compete in the Swedish capital have sub-10 second personal bests. Gay said it will be his last race before heading to the world championships in Berlin.
A former world record-holder, Powell won last year's race in Stockholm in 9.88, edging eventual Olympic champion Usain Bolt by a hundredth of a second.
Stockholm's Olympic Stadium was built for the 1912 Olympic Games and 83 world records have been set at the stadium, more than at any other venue in the world.
