Jennie Finch offers her advice for running

After retiring from professional softball in 2010, Olympic gold medalist Jennie Finch found her way to a new athletic feat -- this time, no glove required. In 2011, she joined 47,000 runners in New York City, finished her first marathon and raised more than $30,000 to support running programs for inner city youth.

Sage advice:
"When faced with a killer challenge like this one, count on that take-no-prisoners training of yours to get you to the finish. But whether you're running your first race of your 57th, seeing all those miles lined up on a page can be downright daunting. To keep intimidation at bay, try jotting your mileage on a tear-off, page-a-day calendar. It'll help you avoid fretting over tomorrow's workout before you've powered through today's.

"Whatever works best for you, remember that running is about putting one foot in front of the other. Your body is about to do something you never thought it could. Enjoy this journey. The destination will be worth every step."
