Player who helped save my life is here
Howdy! Can you feel it in the air, softball fans? It is the 2012 postseason! It is finally upon us, and the excitement is a tangible thing all across the country. Sixty-four deserving teams are preparing for collegiate softball's biggest show. It must be said that if you are not excited by this, then you might be following the wrong sport. :)
Tomorrow, three teams will arrive here in Aggieland for the College Station Regional. We will be hosting the LSU Tigers, the Texas State Bobcats and the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats. Each team will get one hour of practice time at the Aggie Softball Complex in order to get acquainted with the field conditions. I am sure they will find them to be commendable because we have one of the best field crews in the nation. That is due to our wonderful field manager Craig Potts! After all, we are an Agricultural and Mechanical school. If we can't make grass grow well enough, we can build the machines that will make it grow.
I am very excited for the arrival of these teams because I am ready to begin playing, but there is another reason I look forward to them being here. A lot of people don't know about a very special connection I have to a player on the Texas State softball team. Her name is Anna Hernandez, and she is one of my very best friends in the world. She is also someone that I owe my life to.
In the summer of 2010, I was involved in a head-on collision that caused my car to roll several times. My car ended up upside down, and I was wedged inside of the vehicle. If Anna was not the driver of the car in front of me and close enough to give immediate aid, I would not have been able to get out of the car and may not be writing this blog for you. So, needless to say, I look forward to any opportunity where I get to see my good friend. I also look forward to any time I get to see her on the field as she is a very talented softball player. I wish her and Texas State softball the very best in this postseason.
As I have said many times, if you find yourself wishing you had something awesome to do, then head on over to the Aggie Softball Complex this weekend. The College Station Regional does not look to disappoint.
Thanks and Gig ‘Em!
