Serena stands alone in seventh
Serena Williams won her 56th career WTA singles title on Sunday with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jelena Jankovic at the China Open to take over seventh place alone on the all-time list of most WTA titles. She had been tied at 55 with Lindsay Davenport and Virginia Wade. Still ahead of Serena on the all-time list are Martina Navratilova (167), Chris Evert (154), Steffi Graf (107), Margaret Court (92), Evonne Goolagong Cawley (68) and Billie Jean King (67). Serena, 32, won her first career singles title in 1999 at the Open Gaz de France. Since then, she has won 17 Grand Slam titles, and her career earnings are at more than $51 million.
