Royals watching at Wimbledon

Prince William was spotted here. He was among visitors to the Royal Box on Wednesday.

This is the official entrance to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

This is the place where the blue bloods and famous normally enter the Royal Box. Above the entry way is the terrace and tradition commands the men’s and women’s winners come for a glass of victory champagne to show off the trophy to the throngs of fans hanging out below.

Sometimes, however, when it’s Royals of special importance they’ll sneak them in another door. That’s what happened today.

I was upstairs visiting my friends at the Associated Press, who have an office on the second floor of the media center. They have huge picture windows that looks down at the driveway where players are dropped off at the players’ lounge entrance.

Wednesday, as I was looking though the window. All of a sudden there were a host of motorcycle cops escorting a very posh car. I was able to look in and see His Royal Highness, The Duke of Cambridge. Yes, I saw Prince William through the car window. I guess Catherine (that’s Kate), Duchess of Cambridge was sitting back in the back seat because I didn’t get a glimpse of her in the car.

Every day a list comes out to the media as to who are guests in the Royal Box.

Tuesday, Kate’s parents -- the Middletons -- were there. They made it all the way through to the end of all the matches, which wasn’t until close to 11 p.m. Last week, Kate’s siblings were in the Royal Box: Pippa and James.

William’s dad and wife -- Prince Charles and Camilla, were also visitors to watch Roger Federer last week.

Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf are also Royal Box guests Wednesday.
