American Molly Huddle Celebrates Too Soon, Loses Bronze Medal At Finish Line

Molly Huddle was cruising down the stretch toward a bronze medal in the 10,000 meters on Monday at the world championships. With just a few paces to go, the American threw up her hands in celebration, and instead of, you know, cementing her spot on the podium, she got passed by teammate Emily Infeld.

Womp, womp.

After the race, a devastated Huddle told Universal Sports that she "let up too much" in the final half-step. "Emily was right there the whole time with just more momentum. She got that bronze. It's going to take a long time to get over."

Let this be a lesson to all of us: Never celebrate before the finish line. Especially when cameras are there to record the moment for all to see for the rest of time.
