Amelia Gapin has become the first transgender woman to be featured on the cover of Women's Running

In an interview with the magazine, Gapin said she aspires to qualify for the Boston Marathon, something she couldn't do without undergoing surgery. She also discusses how she feels about her body, provides tips for new runners and talks about what being on the cover means to her.

"Being a transgender woman on the cover of a magazine dedicated to women says people like me are not just being seen, but being seen for who we are," Gapin said to Women's Running. "It's a feeling of acceptance, inclusivity and being welcomed."

Gapin is one of multiple transgender athletes featured in the issue, talking about their bodies and their passion for running. The issue is on newsstands now. Read a preview of the interview here.
