Whitney Engen shares emotional letter with fans after being released from USWNT

Whitney Engen has been a part of the U.S. women's national soccer team since 2010, but she said Sunday that her time with the squad has come to an end. The 28-year-old posted a heartfelt letter on her Twitter account acknowledging that head coach Jill Ellis informed her that she had been released.

Clearly emotional, Engen says she is "tremendously proud" of her national team career -- but is also "devastated" by the news. You really should just read the letter in its entirety below.

We'll miss you, Whitney!
