Olympic gold medalist Carly Patterson announces she is pregnant with first child
While Serena Williams teased the world on Snapchat with a potential pregnancy announcement and got EVERYONE talking in the process, another decorated athlete officially confirmed she's expecting.
Carly Patterson, the all-around gymnastics gold medalist at the 2004 Olympics, revealed that she and her husband, Mark Caldwell, are expecting a baby in October. Disclosing that they had "struggled to get pregnant for quite some time," the former gymnast went on to share their excitement about the news.
Those closest to us know we have struggled to get pregnant for quite some time and were wondering if this would ever happen for us. Thankfully, God has answered our prayers and Baby Caldwell is due October 2017! Mark and I could not be more overjoyed for our little miracle and we cannot wait to start this journey of parenthood! ❤️ "For this child I have prayed and the Lord has granted the desires of my heart" 1 Samuel 1:27
She later posted a picture of the couple holding up a series of ultrasound pictures. And if their smiles are any indication, they are clearly thrilled right now.
And, of course, some famous friends had many congratulatory messages for the pair.
Congratulations, Carly and Mark!
