Morgan Hurd might have been more excited about hearing from J.K. Rowling than winning a world title
This weekend, you might have gone pumpkin picking or stuffed yourself with cider donuts (just me?), but no matter how great your weekend was, I'm pretty sure Morgan Hurd's was better.
The 16-year-old stunned the gymternet with her incredible showing in Montreal, winning the all-around title (and a silver medal on the balance beam) at the world gymnastics championships. No big deal, right? After finishing sixth in the all-around at the U.S. championships in August, Hurd wasn't exactly a favorite for the podium. But she casually exceeded all expectations and won the whole thing.
As if things couldn't get any better for the American gymnast, she got a congratulatory tweet from J.K. Rowling.
Hurd is well known for her Harry Potter fandom, and, needless to say, she was more than a little excited about the tweet.
Her teammate (and fellow world medalist) Jade Carey thankfully captured her immediate reaction on video for all the world to see.
I have a feeling Hurd might want to get used to hearing from celebrities.
