Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova reunited for the ultimate Arizona road trip
Tennis fans were horrified over the summer to watch Bethanie Mattek-Sands suffer a devastating knee injury during a singles match at Wimbledon. And, they were equally disappointed to learn she and doubles partner Lucie Safarova wouldn't get a chance to complete the Bucie Slam and win their fourth-straight Grand Slam title due to her injury.
However, while the two haven't yet been reunited on the court, the pair were together over the weekend for an epic Arizona road trip. Making their way all over Mattek-Sands' state with a group of friends, the squad left virtually no tourist attraction unseen.
From Horseshoe Bend:
To Bumble Bee ghost town:
To Lower Antelope Canyon:
And, of course, Cathedral Rock and Sedona:
Clearly it was a weekend to remember (and perhaps the basis of a future Arizona tourism ad campaign), but most importantly, it's beyond adorable to see how close Mattek-Sands and Safarova are off the court. Grand Slam titles and trophies are cool, but nothing is better than having a great friend.
