Not only did Sloane Stephens win her first Grand Slam this year, but she also graduated from college
It's been a pretty incredible 2017 for Sloane Stephens. After foot surgery in January and an extended absence from competition, the American tennis star had a Cinderella run in Queens and won the US Open in September.
And somehow, if that wasn't enough, she also achieved another major life milestone this year.
On Thursday, Stephens graduated from Indiana University East, rocking the cap and gown and proudly showing off her degree for all the world to see.

Majoring in communication studies, Stephens participated in the school's program with the WTA, which allows players to take classes online while on tour. She and fellow player Katalin Marosi received their degrees on Thursday, and joined Venus Williams, Alla Kudryavtseva and Irina Falconi as graduates of the school.
Stephens even told fellow students at the school that earning her degree has been "the highlight of my life." Clearly it means a lot to her. And I have to think that diploma will look pretty nice standing next to her US Open trophy.
