Team Ott takes NWHL All-Star Game behind Hayley Scamurra's hat trick
While most of the league's top players are overseas playing for Team USA, there was no shortage of power in Sunday's NWHL All-Star Game.
How so? Kelsey Koelzer earned co-MVP honors despite being part of the losing team.
Though Koelzer scored a game-high four goals for Team Leveille, it wasn't enough to outmatch Hayley Scamurra's hat trick as Team Ott won 8-6.
Scamurra completed her hat trick with 1:45 remaining in the second half -- instead of three 20-minute periods, there were two 25-minute halves -- to give Team Ott an insurance goal down the stretch.
Team Ott led 6-2 early in the second half before Koelzer went off. Not one ...
Not two ...
Not three ...
But four goals.
Like we said, safe to say they earned co-MVP honors.
