Naomi Osaka after beating Serena Williams: 'I kind of wanted to impress her'

Just days after winning her first WTA title, Naomi Osaka followed up on her incredible run at Indian Wells with a win in her first-round match at the Miami Open.

And it wasn't just any win -- it was a win against her hero, Serena Williams.

The 20-year-old beat the 23-time Grand Slam champion in convincing fashion, 6-3, 6-2, and if her play didn't win over the crowd, her postmatch interview likely did. Explaining that the younger Williams sister is her favorite player, Osaka confessed to being nervous heading into the match. "Playing against her is kind of like a dream for me, so I'm very grateful I was able to play her, and even better that I was able to win," she said.

"I kind of wanted to impress her, and I just wanted to make her say, 'Come on!' one time, and I think she did, so I'm really happy about that."

Same, girl. Same. Up-and-coming tennis stars really are just like us.
