What athletes eat: CrossFit champ Camille Leblanc-Bazinet's mango and greens protein smoothie

Canadian Camille Leblanc-Bazinet has been a powerhouse on the CrossFit scene for nearly a decade. At 30 years old, she's appeared at the CrossFit Games nine times, and took top honors as the World's Fittest Woman in 2014.

While a shoulder dislocation and tear meant having to pull out of the 2017 Games, Leblanc-Bazinet was back in 2018 with a 13th-place finish at the Games. Her next goal: to compete at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 in weightlifting.

Leblanc-Bazinet is also sharing her expertise by coaching beginner athletes along with her husband, Dave Lipson. She shared one of the recipes in her new book, "Jumpstart to Health" -- a go-to smoothie she drinks almost every morning.

What I'm eating: A protein smoothie with mango, spinach, avocado and lime

Why I'm eating it: The whole thing is about 40 percent carbs, 30 percent fat and 30 percent protein. I know this ratio should sustain me well going into training or in my day and keep my hormones quite balanced.

The recipe:

Ingredients:
1 cup of chopped mango (I use frozen)
1 handful of spinach
1/4 cup of avocado
1/2 a lime, squeezed
1 cup of oatmeal, cooked
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
1 tablespoon of nut butter

I like to use frozen chopped mango and partially thaw it at 80 percent power in the microwave. That makes the taste much stronger and still makes the smoothie cold.

Combine mango, spinach, avocado, oatmeal and lime in a blender. Add nut butter and protein powder and blend until smooth.
