Awkward Feeling everywhere you turn

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James make room for fun and games in the Heat’s schedule.

In case you were too busy planning your pumpkin-pie-eating strategy and missed out on sports, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you missed last night.

The effort was there ...

The Miami Heat did their typical Miami Heat thing on Monday night -- they won a basketball game and then turned their now legendary video-bombing skills into a made-for-Vine/GIF instant classic.

After scoring a game-high 35 points in a 107-92 victory over the Phoenix Suns, LeBron James was doing a postgame interview when an aspiring gymnast named Dwyane Wade channeled his inner Gabby Douglas.

WAS THAT A … CARTWHEEL? Yes, yes it was!

While I applaud Wade’s creativity and effort, he clearly still has a long way to go before he reaches the level of GIF MVP Chris Bosh.

Smart shot

Kevin Durant favorite Marcus Smart continued his “Step aside, Andrew Wiggins!” tour on Monday night when he nailed a buzzer-beater from beyond half court in Oklahoma State’s win over South Florida. Sure, it was right before halftime and not at the end of the game and was during a complete blowout, but… still. If this was during halftime at most arenas, he would have won a cash prize, mortgage payment or unlimited milkshakes for a year.

Parental guidance

The San Francisco 49ers became the latest team to embarrass the Washington Redskins. Niners QB Colin Kaepernick was impressive with 235 yards and three touchdowns. Redskins QB Robert Griffin III was … not. Between his zero TD passes, one interception and being kicked, uh, where the sun don’t shine, it seemed as if the night couldn’t get any demoralizing for RGIII.

And then somehow it did.

His father -- RGII, can I call you that? -- sat in on his postgame news conference and stood with him – middle school football/“Toddlers and Tiaras”-style -- in the no-visitors-allowed locker room. In the least surprising development since your alarm went off this morning, reporters and fans alike had some opinions on the QB and his dad-ager.

While the fans might not be thrilled with the development, somewhere out there -- probably counting money while watching the “Bound 2” music video and developing a line of glamorous and aspirational cereal featuring her daughters and grandchildren -- Kris Jenner doesn’t see what the big deal is.

Is that allowed on TV?

Pete Holmes, aka the dude whose show comes on after Conan O’Brien’s on TBS, did an awkward interview with hurdler-turned-bobsledder Lolo Jones. Did I mention it was awkward? Well, they do every 4.2 seconds so you might as well get used to it.
