Party in the U-S-A
Still recovering from Sunday's epic U.S.-Portugal game at the World Cup? Relive all the action and emotions from the 2-2 draw through the eyes and ears of fans across the country.
5:45 p.m. ET: Almost game time
After a 2-1 victory over Ghana in their World Cup opener, U.S. fans were excited to see if the team could win again in their second game of Group G play. So much so, they couldn't even wait until game time to get the party started.
6:05 p.m. ET
Portuguese star Nani committed the ultimate party foul, in the U.S. at least, as he scored in just the game's fifth minute.
7:05 p.m. ET: Halftime
Despite some close attempts, the U.S. failed to score in the first half. Portugal took a 1-0 lead into the break. American fans bravely disregarded this fact and continued partying like winners.
7:23 p.m. ET
Jermaine Jones scored in the 64th minutes to tie it up at 1-1... and give the American fans a little something to cheer about.

Clint Dempsey! The superstar scored his second goal of the 2014 World Cup to give the U.S. a once-seemingly improbable 2-1 lead. The nationwide reaction likely caused some sort of tectonic shift.
7:56 p.m. ET
The U.S. held a 2-1 lead with just under 30 seconds left to play in stoppage time. But just before fans everywhere had a chance to start the "I Believe" chant, Varela scored for Portugal on a cross from Cristiano Ronaldo. The ultimate way to ruin a party if ever there was one.
I still love you Cristiano, just not today. #USAvsPOR- Sydney Leroux (@sydneyleroux) June 22, 2014
