Play date for besties Serena and Woz
Caroline Wozniacki lost a tough three-set match Friday at the Rogers Cup. Thankfully her BFF was right there at the net to give her a hug.
Serena Williams beat her public pal Wozniacki 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in Montreal in their first match since their legendary escapades in Miami. The 32-year-old Williams outlasted her 24-year-old opponent in a thriller that lasted 2 hours, 41 minutes.
It was Williams' fourth straight win over Wozniacki, so don't expect one on-court battle to damage this relationship. Serena and Wozniacki have far too deep and public of a friendship for that. Need proof? We've got everything but the bracelets.
Best girls trip
Miami. Duh. Shortly after their early French Open exits and Wozniacki's breakup with Rory McIlroy (Ugh! That jerk!), the pals and a few other friends decided to turn their frowns upside down in Miami. By the end of their fun-in-the-adventure, Woz was likely saying "Rory Who?" as she slathered on the aloe.
Best wedding crash
While Woz was apparently just steps away during their Miami weekend, Serena took her wedding crashing talents to South Beach and joined in on some beach nuptials while sporting her best long-sleeved leopard-print swimsuit. As one does.
Best appearance at a basketball game
The fun-loving duo kicked off their aforementioned Miami weekend by taking in the Heat's Eastern Conference-clinching win over the Indiana Pacers.
Best moment in Miami that didn't already have a category
DJ Woz rocked the turntables with an impromptu set at a Miami nightclub.
Best match (before Friday)
While Serena owns a 7-1 career record over her bestie, Wozniacki's lone win actually comes from the pair's favorite stomping ground -- Miami. During the quarterfinals of the 2012 Sony Ericsson, Wozniacki needed 95 minutes to top her pal, 6-4, 6-4 and advance to the semis. Until their three-set showdown in Montreal, it was easily their most competitive and compelling match.
Best third wheel op
Before taking the court on Friday, Woz posed for a photo with... a T-Rex. What? You were thinking the answer was Serena? Nope. The top-ranked tennis player was likely picking out her socks while Woz checked out the potentially frightening scene. In the end, it turned out to just be a good, old-fashioned dinosaur brought back from extinction to enjoy a nice little tennis match. No big deal or anything.
Most memorable impression
In December of 2012, Woz made international headlines after a clip of her impersonating Serena during an exhibition against Maria Sharapova went viral. Woz padded her figure with towels to enhance her, um, curves and pranced around and even briefly played. To fully sell the impression, she even won the point.
While the impersonation was criticized for being racist and making fun of Serena and black women's figures, Serena herself laughed it off. Calling Wozniacki her friend, she insisted there was no malicious intent.
If Serena's response below to Woz's very-public breakup and subsequent tweet doesn't make you want to call your best friend immediately, it might be time to make some new friends and/or check your pulse.
Best Proof of This Being an actual, real-life friendship (and the tweet above somehow didn't convince you)
While at "CBS This Morning" last week to announce her upcoming New York City Marathon run, Wozniacki snapped photos of pictures of Serena that were hanging on the wall from her appearances on the show. AWWWWWWW.
