Slideshow: Bad As He Wants To Be
Saying 'I Do' ... To Himself
This was perhaps the most famous of his famed antics: Rodman arrived to a book signing in 1996 in a horse-drawn carriage, dressed in a wedding dress and a blonde wig. He then announced to the crowd that he was bisexual and would be marrying himself.
WFYI: Happy Birthday, Dennis Rodman
In honor of Dennis Rodman's 53rd birthday on Tuesday, we look back at some of his most memorable (read: crazy) moments and antics in a lifetime full of them.
Hair Up There
During his career, Rodman became famous for his colorful hair, which he frequently dyed different hues and patterns. Along with his multiple tattoos and piercings, his unconventional look helped cement his outsider status in the NBA and make him one of the league's most recognizable players.
Dating Madonna
For two glorious months in 1994, Rodman dated equally eccentric Madonna, and it seemed that all was right with the world. Sadly, the relationship would not last, but Rodman provided many private details of their brief affair in his autobiography.
The Head-Butting Incident
After being ejected from a game against the New Jersey Nets in 1996, an unhappy Rodman went to plead his case with referee Ted Bernhardt. Apparently not happy with Bernhardt's reaction, "The Worm" took the unconventional route and head-butted the ref. An enraged Rodman continued his temper tantrum, tore off his jersey, and angrily walked off the floor. He was suspended six games and fined more than $200,000.

Foray Into Pro Wrestling
After being suspended for 11 games in January 1997 for kicking a cameraman in the groin during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rodman decided to use his newfound downtime to pursue another passion -- pro wrestling. Teaming up with Hulk Hogan and the New World Order, Rodman and his furry top hat fit right in with the famed heel faction. Rodman competed in multiple matches, including a much-hyped showdown against Karl Malone in 1998.
Reality TV Star
Rodman joined the cast of "Celebrity Apprentice" in 2009. He was fired after drinking on the job and for a subsequent stretch of erratic behavior. He parlayed that role into a spot on "Celebrity Rehab."
Hall of Fame Induction
Unlike former teammate Michael Jordan, who seemed cold and arrogant during his Hall of Fame induction speech, Rodman was remarkably candid and humbled by the honor in 2011. Referencing his flaws as a father and his troubled home life while growing up, Rodman fought through tears and shocked the crowd with his poignant tribute to basketball.
Vatican Visit
As the world awaited a new Pope last March, Rodman decided it was his global duty to head to the Vatican to be there for the historic moment. While the purpose of his trip was never formally announced, he told TMZ he wanted "to be anywhere in the world that I'm needed," and that he was hoping to "spread a message of peace and love throughout the world." In reality, Rodman was paid to be there by an Irish gambling site that wanted to publicize its new special on papal betting.
Friendship With Kim Jong-un
Rodman made his first visit to North Korea in February 2013 as part of a documentary. Calling his trip a mission of "hoops diplomacy," Rodman became one of the first known Americans to meet dictator Kim Jong-un. The two hit it off, and one of the most controversial friendships in recent history was born. Rodman has since made additional trips to North Korean, including one in January. Joined by fellow former NBA players for a game with the North Korean national team, Rodman awkwardly sang "Happy Birthday" to his dictator pal and defended their friendship in a bizarre, tearful interview on CNN. Rodman entered a rehab facility upon his return to the United States.
