Jayne Appel rebounds from injuries, off to hot start

It has been a hectic and crazy beginning to the WNBA season! I was so excited to come into this season healthy and ready to go -- with plenty of individual goals. And I was also really excited for our team because there's so much we're capable of.

I started the season ready to play and in shape, but my body decided to make me go over one more hurdle before really beginning. I tore my meniscus but am now healthy, recovered from surgery and enjoying my time back on the court.

It took a lot of work to get back to where I was when I started training camp. I went to rehab every day, did conditioning to keep my body in shape, and watched the team practices to learn the system and plays. In the end though, I survived and got the better of yet another surgery. Hopefully that was the last one forever!

Despite the slow start for me, my team is off to a hot start! It's been so much fun to be a part of a team where so many different players step up at different times. It truly makes everyone excited for each game -- and everyone has a fighting mentality to continue what we have going on. We've started this season as a team that competes both on the road and at home.

Building a cohesive team has to be done very quickly and efficiently in the WNBA, since training camp is so short and then games begin so quickly. But this year, our team has it. It's been awesome to be part of San Antonio, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season!
