Duncanville stars Zarielle Green, Aniya Thomas, Starr Jacobs commit to Kansas
Zarielle Green, a 6-foot senior shooting guard at Duncanville (Texas) and the No. 13 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100, on Sunday gave a verbal commitment to Kansas.
Green averaged 17.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game last season as a junior and led Duncanville to its second straight state title. She has the versatility to beat defenders off the dribble or finish from deep.
"I love the coaches, the team and I'm ready to make an impact at Kansas," Green said.
The good news didn't end there for Brandon Schneider and the Jayhawks.
Two of Green's teammates at Duncanville, guard Aniya Thomas and wing Starr Jacobs, also gave verbal commitments to Kansas on Sunday. The trio took an official visit to Lawrence this weekend and wasted no time in announcing their decisions. Duncanville, which was home to former WNBA star Tamika Catchings, is frequently among the best teams in the nation.
In the 2017 state championship game, a 76-65 win over Cypress Ranch, Green scored 25 points; Thomas had 19, which included five 3-pointers; and Jacobs added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
"I want to be part of something special at KU," Green said.
