The Orlando Pride acquired United States women's national team forward Sydney Leroux on Friday in a move that will allow her to play closer to her husband, Orlando City striker Dom Dwyer.

The Pride sent a first-round pick in the 2019 NWSL draft to the Utah Royals in exchange for Leroux.

The Royals recently inherited the players from FC Kansas City, which folded after last season. Dwyer played for Sporting Kansas City before he was traded midway through the 2017 season.

Leroux, 27, has scored 35 goals in 77 appearances with the U.S. national team and was a member of the team that won the 2015 World Cup.

Dwyer and Leroux are the first husband and wife to both score for the U.S. men's and women's national teams. They have a 1-year-old son, Cassius.

The Orlando Pride and Orlando City are both controlled by the same ownership group and share a general manager, Niki Budalic.
