Dreamland wrapped up Sunday at the Wyndham Resort in Orlando, Florida as the top 16 players remaining in Super Smash Melee singles whittled down to one. In the end, Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman would claim victory, knocking off Zachary "SFAT" Cordoni in what shaped up to be a star-studded finale. Here's how the action unfolded on Sunday.

James "Duck" Ma's purple Samus came into the final day looking strong following a solid win over Ryan "The Moon" Coker-Welch on Saturday. And with an advantageous matchup against Juan "Hungrybox" Debiedma's Jigglypuff, it seemed as if Duck would make a rather surprising climb up the standings. However, the fabled Hungrybox had other plans, defeating Duck in a lopsided battle 3-1. Duck's struggles didn't end there, as he was quickly eliminated in the losers bracket by Kyle "dizzkidboogie" Athayde.

James "SwedishDelight" Liu would have quite the lower bracket run on Sunday, blowing through five rounds in the lower bracket, knocking off contenders such as Michael "Nintendude" Brancoto, Jeffery "Axe" Williamson and Justin "Plup" McGrath before falling to Hbox, the projected tournament winner. One of SwedishDelight's most interesting matches was against Plup, the Florida-born Smash player who made headlines with his imperious use of Luigi this tournament. The intrigue immediately began to build, as the match saw not one but two Luigi ditto battles. Plup's Luigi fell to SwedishDelight's counterpart in Game 2, although Plup managed to take Game 3 in the ditto and also trumped SwedishDelight's Sheik in Game 4. Unfortunately, Plup and his Luigi would be eliminated in Game 5 to finish in 5th-6th place.

Intrigue wasn't only saved for Luigi games, as the battle for a top-three placing had all sorts of star power. Hungybox, who many expected to win CEO Dreamland, failed to make it higher than third place, losing first to a polished SFAT in the winners semifinals before being eliminated in the loser bracket finals in a close 3-2 series against Mew2King.

Now set to face the player who initially knocked him into the losers bracket, Mew2King would initiate the reset quickly, taking the first set against SFAT cleanly, sweeping him 3-0. M2K made skilled decisions throughout the series against SFAT, predicting SFAT's movements. M2K was able to carefully place "tippered" forward-smashes to KO SFAT's Fox at early percentages. SFAT would begin collecting himself during the second set, taking one game off of Mew2King on Dreamland with an up-smash. However, Mew2King's tenacity would shine bright as he finished the second set strong to beat SFAT 3-1 claiming first place at CEO Dreamland 2017.
