Riot Games will host the North American League of Legends Championship Series Spring Finals at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater on April 7-8, league sources told ESPN.
The league is expected to announce the location and venue within the week, sources said. The two-day event will feature two series, the third-place match on April 7th and the first-place game on April 8th. This will be the first time Riot will host its Spring Finals on the East Coast, as well as its first event in the Southeast since the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational.
The 2,713-seat venue will feature the second time Riot has hosted an event in a theater, the first being the 2016 League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals at the Chicago Theater in Oct. 2016. The Fillmore has traditionally hosted bands, comedians and other types of shows since it was constructed in 1950.
Past finals have taken place at New York's Madison Square Garden, the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Boston's TD Garden and the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia -- arenas that normally host traditional sports events or large-scale concerts. The Fillmore, in comparison, is much smaller than the last five League Championship Series Finals events.
The League Championship Series regular season is currently underway. The North American regular season will run through March 18. Playoffs will begin in Riot Games' Los Angeles studio starting March 24, concluding at the Fillmore in Miami on April 7-8.
Riot did not respond to a request for comment by the time of publication.
