Team Secret and Evil Geniuses both punched their tickets Friday to the upper-bracket final of the $1 million MDL Disneyland Paris Major, setting up a Saturday showdown in the Dota 2 event.
Secret and Evil Geniuses, both of whom earlier swept their way to first place in their respective groups with ease, rolled to the Saturday matchup by dispatching second-place finishers from other groups.
Secret, who went 2-0 by sweeping four maps to take Group B, took care of OG 2-0 in just over an hour, sending the second-place finishers from Group D to the lower bracket. Secret have won eight of nine maps thus far, the best map winning percentage of any team in the tournament.
Evil Geniuses -- who won Group D by going 4-for-4 in maps last weekend -- handled Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-1, earning victories in the first and third maps.
Both OG and NiP will play lower-bracket semifinal matches on Saturday. OG will take on Team Liquid, who defeated Group C champion Vici Gaming 2-1 on Friday. NiP will battle PSG.LGD, who advanced Friday by sweeping Virtus.pro, the Group A champs.
The winners of the two lower-bracket semifinal matches will then face each other Saturday, with the winner moving on to play the loser of the Secret-Geniuses upper-bracket final.
All matches are best-of-three until Sunday's best-of-five grand final. The winner will earn $350,000, and the runner-up will receive $170,000.
The Dota Pro Circuit's fourth major of the season is being played at the 6,300-seat Disney Events Arena and marks the first time that Mars Media has hosted its flagship event outside of China.
It is the next-to-last major before The International 19 in August, with the EPICENTER Major to follow next month in Moscow. Virtus.pro, Secret, Vici, Evil Geniuses, PSG.LGD, Fnatic and NiP have secured spots in the $10 million International, which will be held in Shanghai.
