Nickname bars Sean Pierson

TORONTO -- A mixed martial artist who recently made his UFC debut has been barred from police training in Canada because officials believe his nickname is offensive and his fighting career would get in the way of his police work.

Sean Pierson was scheduled to begin training in Toronto on Tuesday, but his provisional job offer was withdrawn earlier this week, Toronto police spokesman Mark Pugash said.

Pugash said that Pierson's nickname -- Pimp Daddy -- and the time he spends training and competing would have caused a conflict with his police duties.

Pierson won his UFC debut Saturday night in Montreal, and says he plans to stick with fighting for now. He says other police forces have had the same concerns about his nickname and career, and he has no hard feelings.
