Without an A-League point to their names after two rounds, Melbourne Victory have suffered a further setback with the revelation defender James Donachie needs surgery.
Victory skipper Carl Valeri was dismayed at the prognosis for the club's first-choice centre back, who might not be seen in action before 2018 after hurting his right quad in the 2-1 Melbourne derby loss.
"He's going to need surgery. How long, times and his recovery, we really don't know. We're going to get a second opinion ... we're going to miss him," Valeri said on Wednesday.
