Starting pitcher projections for Week 22: Sept. 4-10

Pitching scuttlebutt

The Baltimore Orioles used Ubaldo Jimenez out of the bullpen during their week-opening series against the Yankees, and won't give him another start until Week 23. Gabriel Ynoa filled in for Chris Tillman (unspecified injury) on Sept. 9, and the team also used the Wednesday rainout to push Dylan Bundy's next turn into Week 23.

Jordan Montgomery made a spot start for the New York Yankees on Monday and wlll again on Sept. 10 in place of Jaime Garcia. The Yankees will hold Garcia back until Sept. 13.

Alex Cobb (finger) will make his start for the Tampa Bay Rays on Sept. 10 as scheduled.

Carson Fulmer will replace David Holmberg in the Chicago White Sox's rotation on Sept. 10.

The Cleveland Indians used a six-man rotation forWeek 22 now that Danny Salazar has returned, but Salazar is returning to the bullpen for Week 23 after making a spot start on Tuesday.

Artie Lewicki has reached his prescribed innings limit, so the Detroit Tigers removed him from their rotation following his Monday spot start. Anibal Sanchez (calf) is expected to start on Sept. 10.

Danny Duffy (DL: elbow) will need beyond Week 22 in order to fully heal and rejoin the Royals' rotation.

The Milwaukee Brewers will use Jimmy Nelson, Chase Anderson and Zach Davies during the all-important weekend series at Chicago's Wrigley Field, skipping Brandon Woodruff during Week 22.

Steven Brault made a spot start for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, replacing Ivan Nova, whom the team feels is fatigued. Nova is expected to rejoin the rotation the next time that spot arrives on Sept. 10.

The Colorado Rockies used a "bullpen day," led by Tyler Chatwood, to fill their Tuesday rotation opening. Chatwood pitched effectively enough that he earned another start the next time that spot in the Rockies' rotation arrives on Sept. 10.

With Clayton Kershaw back and Alex Wood (DL: SC joint) due back on Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers once again have a six-man rotation. If they choose to skip someone in Week 22, Hyun-Jin Ryu could pick up a second start.

The San Diego Padres have moved to a six-man rotation, keeping Jordan Lyles in the regular order.
