ESPN NBA.com Fantasy Basketball (FBA '10) offers three different league types for you to choose from. The three league types are: Standard, Prize-Eligible and Custom. Each of these league types offers a rich and enjoyable experience for fantasy players of all levels. To assist you in choosing the best experience, we will provide a brief overview of each league type.
Standard: Free leagues are 10-team, standard scoring leagues that use fixed rule settings and are managed by ESPN. In the Free Standard game there are two scoring formats: Rotisserie and Head-to-Head: Each Category. Free Standard leagues are an easy way to dive into fantasy hockey while providing a satisfying and fun fantasy experience.
Standard: Prize-Eligible leagues are 10-team, standard scoring leagues that use fixed rule settings and are managed by ESPN. In the Prize-Eligible game there are two scoring formats: Rotisserie and Head-to-Head: Each Category. Prize-Eligible leagues are composed of teams that have been purchased. For a list of prices and prize eligibility requirements, click here. As the name implies, the winner of a Prize-Eligible league will win a prize. For a list of prizes , click here. Additionally, Prize-Eligible leagues are the only leagues that will award you points in the ESPN Uber Challenge game (Category A). For more information on ESPN Uber Challenge, click here.
Note: Once the Fantasy regular season ends, ESPN will stop updating the leaderboard, located in the "More" tab on the Fantasy Hockey homepage (applicable for Prize-Eligible teams only). The playoffs do not impact overall leaderboards. Playoffs only impact whether or not you win your league.
Custom: League Manager leagues use customized rule settings and are managed by one of the players in the league (called the league manager or "LM"). The LM chooses from a variety of scoring formats and rule options to create a unique fantasy game suited to their specific settings. The Custom game has five scoring formats: rotisserie, points-based, and three types of head-to-head. In addition, there are a variety of additional scoring and rule options like keepers to tailor the league settings to your fantasy needs.
