Start 'Em, Sit 'Em

It remains to be seen how much of a time-share Jarrett Jack will be in with Steve Blake, and against the Spurs, who rarely foul and shut off 3s, Jack is likely to have a tough night of it. … If you're thinking of playing Luke Walton since he should put up better fantasy lines without Lamar Odom, think again. Elite defenses like the Rockets' stymie the value of marginal players like Walton. … Andrew Bynum averaged three fouls per game in 22 minutes last season; against Yao Ming, foul trouble is likely. … Al Harrington will come off the bench behind Matt Barnes; Harrington averaged just 27 minutes in nine April contests last season. Unless desperate for 3-pointers and points, Harrington is risky.

Waiver-Wire Pickups

Kwame Brown averaged 35.3 minutes against the Rockets last season because he is the Lakers' best low-post defender, so he is an option for the desperate. … Barnes averaged more than 34 minutes as a starter last season, making more than two 3s and averaging nearly 1.5 steals. As long as he's starting over Harrington, he needs to be on your roster. … Without Stephen Jackson, expect Mickael Pietrus to see plenty of minutes and do well against a poor Jazz defense. … Ronnie Brewer averaged 17.1 points and 2.4 steals in seven preseason games and, as a result, is the new starting shooting guard for the Jazz. Few matchups are better than the Warriors, especially with the chance Harpring is out or plays limited minutes.
