Updates/analysis (most recent first)

Emmanuel Sanders inactive (19:28 p.m. ET): Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that WR Emmanuel Sanders (knee, out) is inactive.

Hines Ward active (19:28 p.m. ET): Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that WR Hines Ward (ankle, questionable) is active. Emmanuel Sanders' absence is a plus for Ward, but considering Ward has been surpassed on the depth chart by both Mike Wallace and
Antonio Brown at this point, he's not an advised fantasy option.

Lee Evans inactive (19:28 p.m. ET): The Baltimore Ravens' official Twitter feed reports that WR Lee Evans (ankle, out) is inactive.

That's all for the 4 p.m. ET inactives. Sunday Night Football inactives should be released during the 7 p.m. ET hour.

Kevin Faulk inactive (14:55 p.m. ET): The New England Patriots' official Twitter feed reports that RB Kevin Faulk (knee, questionable) is inactive.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis active (14:55 p.m. ET): The New England Patriots' official Twitter feed reports that RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (toe, questionable) is active. As unpredictable as this Patriots backfield can be, "Lawfirm" could see as few as three or as many as 20 carries this week. That Kevin Faulk is out helps him, however, and we'd have to think he'll get double-digit touches. As such, he's still a No. 2 fantasy running back.

Aaron Hernandez active (14:55 p.m. ET): The New England Patriots' official Twitter feed reports that TE Aaron Hernandez (knee, questionable) is active. He's being targeted like a No. 2 wideout, meaning enough work to be a top-10 fantasy tight end in any week.

Wes Welker active (14:55 p.m. ET): The New England Patriots' official Twitter feed reports that WR Wes Welker (neck, questionable) is active. Ah, the Patriots and their injury reports... There was never any significant threat that Welker would sit, so don't sweat the questionable tag. He'll be used early and often against the Giants' so-so secondary, so keep him in your starting lineup.

Sam Bradford active (14:53 p.m. ET): The St. Louis Rams' official Twitter feed reports that QB Sam Bradford (ankle, questionable) is active. He will wear a thin brace on his ankle. Bradford's matchup is favorable enough that he'd be a useful No. 2 option in a two-quarterback league.

Ahmad Bradshaw inactive (14:50 p.m. ET): Pat Hanlon of the New York Giants reports that RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot, doubtful) is inactive. Brandon Jacobs draws the start, making him a low-end No. 2 fantasy running back, and he'll be backed up by
Danny Ware. Ware probably won't receive enough touches to warrant consideration outside of deep PPR formats.

Hakeem Nicks inactive (14:50 p.m. ET): Pat Hanlon of the New York Giants reports that WR Hakeem Nicks (hamstring, doubtful) is inactive. Bump up Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz accordingly, as both should be utilized regularly against the Patriots' awful secondary. Both should be top-20 performers at the position.

Mario Manningham active (14:50 p.m. ET): Pat Hanlon of the New York Giants reports that WR Mario Manningham (illness, probable) is active. He's a No. 2 fantasy wideout with Hakeem Nicks sidelined.

Todd Heap active (14:48 p.m. ET): The Arizona Cardinals' official Twitter feed reports that TE Todd Heap (hamstring, questionable) is active. He shouldn't be used in any fantasy leagues, what with the Cardinals rarely throwing to their tight ends and John Skelton starting at quarterback.

LaRod Stephens-Howling active (14:48 p.m. ET): The Arizona Cardinals' official Twitter feed reports that KR LaRod Stephens-Howling (shoulder, questionable) is active. He'll remain the team's backup running back and kick returner, and isn't much of a fantasy option.

Beanie Wells active (14:48 p.m. ET): The Arizona Cardinals' official Twitter feed reports that RB Beanie Wells (knee, questionable) is active. This is an outstanding matchup for him, so get him into your lineup in all formats.

Kevin Kolb inactive (14:47 p.m. ET): The Arizona Cardinals' official Twitter feed reports that QB Kevin Kolb (toe, doubtful) is inactive. John Skelton will get the start in his place, but considering his awful performance as a temporary starter last year, he's not advised in any fantasy league.

Malcom Floyd inactive (14:45 p.m. ET): The San Diego Chargers' official Twitter feed reports that WR Malcom Floyd (hip, questionable) is inactive.

Curtis Brinkley active (14:45 p.m. ET): The San Diego Chargers' official Twitter feed reports that RB Curtis Brinkley (concussion, probable) is active. He'll serve as Mike Tolbert's backup, and considering Tolbert's injury issues this season, might see more work than your typical backup. That said, he's too risky to trust in fantasy leagues.

Vincent Jackson active (14:45 p.m. ET): The San Diego Chargers' official Twitter feed reports that WR Vincent Jackson (hamstring, probable) is active. The Packers have struggled defending opposing wideouts this season, so Jackson has top-10 fantasy potential this week.

Mike Tolbert active (14:45 p.m. ET): The San Diego Chargers' official Twitter feed reports that RB Mike Tolbert (hamstring, probable) is active. He'll get the start and is a solid No. 2 fantasy running back.

Ryan Mathews indeed inactive (2:44 p.m. ET): The Chargers' official Twitter feed confirms John Clayton's earlier report.

Jason Campbell inactive (14:38 p.m. ET): Paul Gutierrez of Comcast SportsNet California reports that QB Jason Campbell (collarbone, out) is inactive. Terrelle Pryor is also inactive, leaving the Raiders' only two active quarterbacks as
Carson Palmer (starter) and
Kyle Boller (backup). Consider Palmer a mere No. 2 option in two-quarterback leagues.

Darren McFadden inactive (14:38 p.m. ET): Paul Gutierrez of Comcast SportsNet California reports that RB Darren McFadden (foot, out) is inactive. Michael Bush will get the start with
Taiwan Jones his backup. Bush is a solid No. 2 fantasy running back in what's an above-average matchup as the starter.

Sebastian Janikowski active (14:38 p.m. ET): Paul Gutierrez of Comcast SportsNet California reports that K Sebastian Janikowski (left hamstring, questionable) is active. He's a clear-cut fantasy starter whenever healthy.

Kevin Boss active (14:38 p.m. ET): Paul Gutierrez of Comcast SportsNet California reports that TE Kevin Boss (concussion, probable) is active. He's a mediocre fantasy option, only worth a look if you're desperate.

Chaz Schilens active (14:38 p.m. ET): Paul Gutierrez of Comcast SportsNet California reports that WR Chaz Schilens (groin, probable) is active. He's buried on the depth chart and the Raiders' quarterbacks have some questions of their own. Look elsewhere.

Willis McGahee active (14:37 p.m. ET): The Denver Broncos' official Twitter feed reports that RB Willis McGahee (hand, probable) is active. It's unclear how much rushing work he'll get, as he's clearly playing at less than 100 percent, so temper your expectations from him this week. He's a flex play, at best.

Jermaine Gresham inactive (14:35 p.m. ET): Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that TE Jermaine Gresham (hamstring, doubtful) is inactive. Donald Lee is expected to get the start in his place, but he's not a recommended fantasy option. The Bengals will merely lean more on their wide receivers this week.

Ryan Mathews inactive (14:30 p.m. ET): ESPN's John Clayton reports that RB Ryan Mathews (groin, questionable) will be inactive for the Chargers. This isn't terribly surprising; Mike Tolbert has been hyped up as the Chargers' projected starter all week. Mathews' absence merely strengthens Tolbert's fantasy appeal, as he'll get clear starter's carries. Consider him a No. 2 running back, not more only because his matchup is a tricky one.

That's a wrap -- barring late-breaking news -- on inactives for the 1 p.m. ET games. Inactives for the 4 p.m. ET games should begin approximately 2:30 p.m. ET.

Tarvaris Jackson active (12:05 p.m. ET): The Seattle Seahawks' official Twitter feed reports that QB Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral, probable) is active. After his solid relief work, Jackson should earn the start in this game, and he might be throwing early and often. He's not an advised fantasy option but in two-quarterback leagues, he shouldn't be forgotten as a one-week fill-in.

Sidney Rice active (12:05 p.m. ET): The Seattle Seahawks' official Twitter feed reports that WR Sidney Rice (foot, probable) is active. Tarvaris Jackson's healthy return is a plus for Rice, who appears the former's favorite target. Regard Rice as a borderline No. 2/3 fantasy wideout.

Mike Williams active (12:05 p.m. ET): The Seattle Seahawks' official Twitter feed reports that WR Mike Williams (hamstring, probable) is active. He's buried on the depth chart at this stage and not recommended in fantasy leagues.

Felix Jones inactive (12:04 p.m. ET): ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that RB Felix Jones (ankle, out) is inactive for the Cowboys. This is merely confirmation of news previously reported, and it assures DeMarco Murray of another start. This comes against a dreadful matchup, however, meaning his upside will be capped as a low-end No. 2 fantasy running back.

Michael Crabtree active (12:01 p.m. ET): The San Francisco 49ers' official Twitter feed reports that WR Michael Crabtree (foot, probable) is active. He's edging ever closer to being a weekly start in all fantasy leagues. This matchup keeps him in the No. 2/3 class, meaning just shy, but Crabtree is indeed being targeted like a true No. 1 wideout.

Braylon Edwards active (12:01 p.m. ET): The San Francisco 49ers' official Twitter feed reports that WR Braylon Edwards (knee, probable) is active. The matchup, as well as Michael Crabtree's status as the clear No. 1 in San Francisco, makes Edwards more of a hail-mary consideration than an option in shallow formats.

Ben Tate active (11:59 a.m. ET): The Houston Texans' official Twitter feed reports that RB Ben Tate (ankle, probable) is active. He'll again serve as one of the more utilized backups, not because Arian Foster is ceding work, but rather because the Texans are a decidedly run-heavy offense while Andre Johnson is sidelined.

Kevin Walter active (11:59 a.m. ET): The Houston Texans' official Twitter feed reports that WR Kevin Walter (knee, probable) is active. With Andre Johnson still sidelined, Walter should see enough targets to remain a viable No. 3 fantasy wide receiver.

Andre Johnson inactive (11:59 a.m. ET): The Houston Texans' official Twitter feed reports that WR Andre Johnson (hamstring, out) is inactive.

Mohamed Massaquoi active (11:58 a.m. ET): The Cleveland Browns' official Twitter feed reports that WR Mohamed Massaquoi (head, probable) is active. While there is always a chance Massaquoi could break free for a score, Greg Little now looks like the preferred choice in the Browns' passing game, meaning not enough targets to make "MoMass" a recommended fantasy option in most leagues.

Tony Gonzalez active (11:56 a.m. ET): The Atlanta Falcons' official Twitter feed reports that TE Tony Gonzalez (back, probable) is active. He's a top-10 fantasy tight end in what's a favorable matchup for the entire Falcons offense.

Julio Jones active (11:56 a.m. ET): The Atlanta Falcons' official Twitter feed reports that WR Julio Jones (hamstring, probable) is active. His probable status inspired increased confidence for his fantasy owners, and there's a size mismatch here with the members of the Colts' secondary. Jones is sizeable enough to make an immediate impact, so consider his upside just outside the top 10 at his position, his downside, say, top-30.

Santana Moss inactive (11:54 a.m. ET): The Washington Redskins' official Twitter feed reports that WR Santana Moss (hand, out) is inactive. It was expected, but this hardly assures Jabar Gaffney of a significant increase in numbers. Gaffney's Week 8 was underwhelming and his quarterback is mediocre, so regard him a No. 3/4 if you're in a pinch.

Tashard Choice inactive (11:53 a.m. ET): The Washington Redskins' official Twitter feed reports that RB Tashard Choice (hamstring, out) is inactive. This was known already, but at least it confirms that the Redskins' backfield won't be a three-headed beast. It's tough enough to get a read on Mike Shanahan's plans as is!

Peyton Hillis inactive (11:51 a.m. ET): The Cleveland Browns' official Twitter feed reports that RB Peyton Hillis (hamstring, questionable) is inactive. This, coupled with the Hardesty news -- and remember that both pieces were expected -- assures Chris Ogbonnaya the start at running back this week. He's a borderline No. 2/flex option, so take a look if you need a Week 9 fill-in.

Montario Hardesty inactive (11:51 a.m. ET): The Cleveland Browns' official Twitter feed reports that RB Montario Hardesty (calf, out) is inactive.

Ryan Fitzpatrick active (11:49 a.m. ET): The Buffalo Bills' official Twitter feed reports that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (chest, probable) is active. This is a tough-as-nails matchup for Fitzpatrick, facing the Jets' elite pass defense, and as such it's difficult to even make a case for him as a No. 2 fantasy option in a two-quarterback league.

Donald Jones active (11:49 a.m. ET): The Buffalo Bills' official Twitter feed reports that WR Donald Jones (ankle, probable) is active. It's unclear how involved he'll be in his return, but as a note, David Nelson performed better when Jones was healthy than out. (This relevant only to those digging deeeeeeep.)

Plaxico Burress active (11:47 a.m. ET): The New York Jets' official Twitter feed reports that WR Plaxico Burress (lower back, questionable) is active. He's well worth using as a No. 2/3 fantasy wide receiver, being that the Jets clearly utilize him in the red zone, even if his target total falls shy of some of the league's elite wideouts. Remember, while the Bills generate turnovers, they also serve up a lot of yards and scores to opposing passing games.

Dallas Clark active (11:46 a.m. ET): Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star reports that TE Dallas Clark (knee, questionable) is active. The Colts keep him home to block more often than he did in seasons past, but he's still getting targeted frequently enough to be one of the higher-end No. 2 fantasy tight ends.

Joseph Addai active, but won't start (11:43 a.m. ET): Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star reports that RB Joseph Addai (knee, questionable) is active. However, Wilson also notes that Delone Carter will draw the start over Addai. This signals a possible repeat of the team's Week 8 plans, when Addai was active but didn't play. Carter is the Colts back to get, if you must pick from this backfield, but he's a flex play at best. Donald Brown is active and could be in a battle with Addai for the backup carries.

Roy Helu to start for Redskins (11:41 a.m. ET): The 49ers' official Twitter feed reports that Roy Helu
, not Ryan Torain, will start at running back for the opposing Redskins. Ah, Mike Shanahan, how you perplex us so. This could be a one-series decision, or it could be a decided shift in the team's backfield plans. Expect some sort of time share, keeping both backs in the flex-play class, but Helu's performance bears watching as it pertains to future matchups.

Fred Davis active (11:38 a.m. ET): The Washington Redskins' official Twitter feed reports that TE Fred Davis (ankle, questionable) is active. He was expected to play and should again be the leading man in the Redskins' passing game. There isn't much else there as reliable as him, so regard him a clear-cut top-10 fantasy tight end.

Daniel Thomas active (11:37 a.m. ET): The Miami Dolphins' official Twitter feed reports that RB Daniel Thomas (hamstring, questionable) is active. His questionable tag, plus Reggie Bush's Week 8 performance as a fill-in, suggests that the Dolphins might employ some sort of time share in their backfield. Neither is a clear-cut fantasy option, both bordering upon high-flex value.

Kellen Winslow active (11:32 a.m. ET): The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official Twitter feed reports that TE Kellen Winslow (not injury related, probable) is active. He was no risk to sit; he remains a borderline top-10 fantasy tight end.

LeGarrette Blount active (11:32 a.m. ET): The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official Twitter feed reports that RB LeGarrette Blount (knee, probable) is active. He'll start and get the vast majority of the rushing work now that Earnest Graham is out. Kregg Lumpkin will serve as Blount's backup, albeit in a minor role, as the Bucs claim that Blount will play all downs. Get him into your lineups.

Josh Freeman active (11:32 a.m. ET): The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official Twitter feed reports that QB Josh Freeman (right thumb, probable) is active. So much for the worry about this injury suffered during practice. Freeman is more of a No. 2 fantasy option than a top-10 consideration, though.

Sammie Stroughter inactive (11:32 a.m. ET): The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official Twitter feed reports that WR Sammie Stroughter (ankle, probable) is inactive. Another week for Preston Parker as the Bucs' slot receiver.

Mark Ingram inactive (11:30 a.m. ET): The New Orleans Saints' official Twitter feed reports that RB Mark Ingram (heel, out) is inactive. This was expected; it's good news for Pierre Thomas and
Chris Ivory, specifically, as each should see an increase in carries. Consider Thomas a high-end flex option. Ivory, two weeks removed from the PUP list, is merely a hail-mary option.
