ESPN Caddie: Best tweets of the week

August, 19, 2011

So here's where you can catch all the best Twitter highlights from PGA Tour players, wives and caddies, plus those of the Nationwide Tour and even the Champions Tour. Which surprises me because my mom's VCR (yes, she still has one) is still blinking 12:00 on the clock.

Now Jack Nicklaus has a Twitter account @JackNicklaus, but he refers to himself in the third person, which I have never heard him do in an interview. I've also never seen him use a cellphone, and he has admitted publicly that he has never sent a text message without help. So for now, we are going to assume he has someone doing his tweeting for him.

Tiger Woods… I've seen his cellphone, and we know he texts -- because Darren Clarke said so during the Open Championship. Whether it's actually him on @TigerWoods has yet to be seen, but for now, I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt.

@IanJamesPoulter has a slim lead in followers -- 1,227,000 over @StewartCink's 1,205,000 -- but @TigerWoods is closing fast with 1,197,000.

Luke Donald isn't the only world's No. 1 in the family. Wife @DianeDonald leads the Tour wives in followers at 5,200.

@terrymundy -- caddie for Ian Poulter, of course -- is leading the caddies with 7,285 followers.

And now on to the tweets of the week.

Eric Meller (@erictmeller), caddie for Jerry Kelly, tweeted ...
