Langer to play after Katayama withdraws for injury

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland -- Bernhard Langer will play in his
27th British Open.

The German got a spot Monday when Shingo Katayama of Japan
withdrew because of an injury.

Fredrik Jacobson of Sweden and Brian Davis of England also were
added to the field after Jay Haas of the United States and David
Howell of England dropped out because of injuries.

Langer tied for second at the Open in 1981 and '84, and he's
been third four times. The two-time Masters champion was captain of
Europe's winning Ryder Cup team last year.
