Patrick Reed won The Barclays today -- and with it, received a nice perk of qualifying for the U.S. Ryder Cup team. Rickie Fowler wasn't so lucky. He played his final four holes in 3-over, failing to make his way onto the team, as Zach Johnson retained that final spot. U.S. captain Davis Love III will make four wildcard selections in coming weeks.

Rickie Fowler on RC pick: "I just have to continue working on my game and continue getting better. It was almost really good this week."

Twenty bucks to the reporter who tries to go light on Rickie Fowler after the round and says: "I mustache you a question..."

Rickie Fowler double-bogeys the 16th hole and now needs a birdie-birdie finish to make the Ryder Cup team today -- or it's Zach Johnson.

Great last event for Barclays at Bethpage! Pretty decent muni!! 😁 Playing with Phil is always fun in NY but especially after the Olympics.

Rickie Fowler just bogeyed the 15th hole at The Barclays to drop three strokes behind leader Patrick Reed and into a two-way tie for second place. But the subplot to today's event now thickens. Here's what Fowler needs to qualify for the U.S. Ryder Cup team today: Four-way T-2 or better: IN Five-way T-2: OUT Solo 3rd: IN Two-way T-3 or worse: OUT

Rickie Fowler bogeys the 15th. Now trails by three and while the tourney picture clears up, the Ryder Cup subplot thickens.

Zach Johnson has been inside the top-eight on the U.S. Ryder Cup points list since his Open Championship win last year, but on the final day of qualifying, he might finish without an automatic berth. If Rickie Fowler (currently leading) finishes inside the top-three and Patrick Reed (currently second) finishes inside the top-10 or so, Johnson will need to rely on one of four captain's selections. "It's out of my control," he said after his final round at The Barclays. "I had my opportunities. It's not exactly ideal."

Two days before Europe's Ryder Cup captain's picks are announced, big hitter Thomas Pieters wins in Denmark. Decent timing.

Zach Johnson hasn't been outside top-eight on U.S. Ryder Cup points list since before Open win last year. On final day, that could change.
