ESPN Stats and Information

Ian Poulter's 137 is his best 36-hole total at The Open and the first time he's shot par or better in each of his first 2 rounds at a major since the 2014 U.S. Open.

ESPN Stats and Information

After starting his championship 5-over par through 6 holes, Rory McIlroy played the next 18 holes in 7-under par (63). He played the first 6 holes today in 3-under par, 8 shots better than he played those same holes on Thursday.

Ian Poulter walks up the 18th and past a, well, let's say "well oiled" hospitality area. "Go on, Ian", cries one fan. "You can do it," cries another. "Think of Celtic Manor" is the clincher, considering the better shout would have been Medinah.

Before play was suspended, as the heaviest of the rain poured down, a good size crowd stayed in the stands on the 18 green and roared loudly when Billy Horschel made birdie in the horrid conditions to finish his week at +12.

Play temporarily suspended due to heavy rain at The Open Championship. Truth be told, the horn sounded AFTER the heavy rains but you can see puddles starting to form on the 18th green.

Jordan Spieth has just submitted a contender for shot of the championship. Needing to chip in to save par at the 10th -- and from the short side of the green -- he does exactly that. And all of that in a truly lashing rainstorm. An amber weather warning follows almost as soon as Spieth's ball hits the cup.

Richard Bland is 44 years old. He turned pro in 1996. He's played 414 previous events without a win. He's never made the cut in a major championship. And with two birdies already today, he's tied for the Open Championship lead along side Jordan Spieth. What a story.

While Henrik Stenson was competing in Round 1 of The Open Championship on Thursday, his local rental house was broken into. Burglars took personal valuable items, including jewelry, and his on-course clothing for the week (which he quickly had replaced). "I am going to try not to let this spoil the week in any way," said Stenson, who had an afternoon tee time on Friday. "I am extremely grateful that my family were not in the house at the time."

Henrik Stenson's local rental house was broken into while he played yesterday. Personal valuable items and his clothing for the week taken.

When the bad weather does hit, the marshall's at The Open Championship will be easily visible AND stylish!! Like a Boss... that joke was too easy.

This is the stuff of caddie nightmares! It's blowing almost 25mph at Royal Birkdale. Look how the flag on the green is pointed in the opposite direction as the flags above the grandstands. What does a caddie tell his player?!?

ESPN Stats and Information

Phil Mickelson made 12 bogeys or worse this week in 36 holes. He made four bogeys total in 72 holes at Troon in 2016.

ESPN Stats and Information

How long has it been since Ian Poulter made a cut at The Open? His last weekend appearance was in 2013 at Muirfield, which was also Phil Mickelson's last win.
