Georgia player Scott drives Canada at World Amateurs

STELLENBOSCH, South Africa -- Richard Scott and Andrew Parr
shot under-par rounds in windy conditions Thursday to give Canada a
two-stroke lead after the first round of the World Amateur Team

Scott, a University of Georgia player from Kingsville, Ontario,
had a 3-under 69, and Parr, a Texas A&M standout from London,
Ontario, shot a 70 to give Canada a 5-under 139 total. They are
teaming with James Love, whose 73 did not count in the team total.

The Netherlands was second, France followed at 2 under, and the
defending champion United States was another stroke back along with
South Africa, Austria, Malaysia and Mexico. Georgia's Chris Kirk
led the United States with a 71, NCAA champion Jonathan Moore of
Oklahoma State had a 72 and longtime amateur star Trip Kuehne
opened with a 78.
