SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. -- Liselotte Neumann won the Legends Tour's season-opening Walgreens Charity Classic on Sunday in 100-degree heat, beating Danielle Ammaccapane with a par on the fourth hole of a playoff.
Neumann, the 47-year-old Swede who won the 1988 U.S. Women's Open for the first of her 13 LPGA Tour titles, closed with a 4-under 68 to match Ammaccapane at 7-under 137 at Grandview.
"It's the first time I've won in a while and it's the first one on the Legends Tour," said Neumann, the 2013 European Solheim Cup captain. "I was pretty nervous in the playoff, but it feels wonderful now."
Ammaccapane bogeyed the final hole of regulation for a 71. The 48-year-old former Arizona State player won seven LPGA Tour titles.
Wendy Doolan, Rosie Jones and 2013 winner Michele Redman tied for third at 6 under. Doolan shot 67, Jones 68 and Redman 69.
