Report: LPGA to introduce fifth major

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Evian Masters in France will be the fifth major on the LPGA Tour, Golfweek magazine is reporting.

The Evian Masters, held in the south of France in July, offers prize money of $3.5 million. That's equal to the U.S. Women's Open as the top purse on the LPGA Tour.

Golfweek cites sources as saying the announcement is expected in two weeks. The tour's other majors are the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the LPGA Championship, the U.S. Women's Open and the Women's British Open.

Evian agreed to several changes by LPGA Tour commissioner Mike Whan, including lengthening the course, Golfweek reported. The tournament likely would move to the fall, according to the report.
