Tiger Woods keeps lead in sights

JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Tiger Woods shot a 2-under 69 to complete his second round on Saturday morning at the Barclays at the Liberty National Golf Club.

Woods had five holes to finish after darkness halted play Friday evening.

"The middle part of my round was not the best ball striking," said Woods, who missed half of his greens in his second round. "I cleaned it up at the end. This afternoon is going to be tough -- windy and blustery."

Woods said his back was fine after receiving treatment for soreness Friday night.

After 36 holes, the 79-time tour winner is five shots back of the leader, Matt Kuchar, who is 11 under after a 65 in his second round. Kuchar, a two-time winner in 2013, is two shots clear of Webb Simpson and Gary Woodland.

Notables who missed the even par cut included Ian Poulter, Dustin Johnson, Brandt Snedeker, Graeme McDowell and Ernie Els.

The top 100 players off the FedEx Cup points list after this week advance to the Deutsche Bank Champion, which begins next Friday outside Boston.

Fifteen players were eliminated on Saturday morning from the playoffs, including former U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover. These players started the week outside of the top 100 and missed the cut.

The third round will began at 10:43 am off both tees. Woods goes off at 12:11 with Justin Rose and Jonas Blixt.
