We've broken down the state's top 20 players into four teams based on their talent. Keep in mind, these preseason selections are based on past accomplishments and projected on-court performance in addition to recruit rankings.

First team

G: Devin Coyle, 5-11, Mandan, Senior
Coyle is also a football and track star for Mandan.

G: Mack Arvidson, 6-1, Red River, Senior
Arvidson was a second-team all-state after solid junior campaign.

G: Jake Hagler, North Star, 6-1, Junior
Hagler averaged 18.4 points and six assists per game as a sophomore.

F: Dexter Werner, Bismarck, 6-5/220, Senior
All-State forward is committed to North Dakota State.

F: A.J. Jacobson, Fargo Shanley, 6-6, Junior
Jacobson has an offer from North Dakota State and is also an all-state player in soccer.

Second team

G: Tom Frasse, Century, 6-3, Senior
Sharpshooter averaged 24.5 points per game as a junior.

G: Danny Fischer, Jamestown, 5-8, Senior
All-WDA guard averaged 16.4 points per game as a junior.

F: Dan Yale, Berthold, 6-4, Senior
Can play all five positions on court; named All-State Class B last year.

F: Mike Paulson, Hatton-Northwood, 6-4, Senior
Class B All-State member averaged 22 points and eight rebounds last year.

C: Landon Lechler, Beach, 6-7, Senior
Big man averaged 24 points and 14 rebounds during junior season.

Third team

G: Mac Kroeplin, Red River, 6-1, Senior
All-EDC guard averaged 17.5 points and 5.6 rebounds as a junior.

G: Andrew Kozlowski, Fargo Davis, 6-0, Sophomore
Big freshman year earned him a spot on All-EDC first team.

G: Jeremy Bontjes, Wahpeton, 5-9, Senior
Pesky guard led team with 15.9 points per game.

F: Brady Syverson, Fargo North, 6-4, Senior
Member of All-EDC team two consecutive years.

F: Sam Stratton, Fargo North, 6-6, Senior
Transfer played on Montana state title team as a junior.

Fourth team

G: Patrick Strom, Shanley, 6-0/170, Sophomore
Multi-sport varsity starter as freshman last season.

G: Tanner Kretchman, Kindred, 5-10, Sophomore
Had a productive freshman year by averaging 16 points per game.

Helped make a deep run in the playoffs last season.

F: Jordan Thoreson, Jamestown, 6-3, Senior
Averaged 13 points and seven rebounds per game as a junior.
