INSIDE THE STANFORD CARDINAL'S CLASS
With signatures from three of the top 30 prospects in the nation, Tara VanDerveer has Stanford sitting pretty. She's also the lone coach who has a triple play of reigning Gatorade state players of the year.
The headliner of the Cardinal's clutch is Taylor Rooks, the No. 19 prospect in the nation whose stock has soared late in her high school career. The 6-foot wing out of New Jersey averaged 27.4 points and 9.6 rebounds as a junior at Gill St. Bernard's (Gladstone).
Brittany McPhee, a 5-11 wing, has won back-to-back Gatorade state player of the year awards in Washington. She averaged 27.0 points and 12.3 rebounds as a junior at Mount Rainier (Des Moines, Wash.).
Kaylee Johnson, a 6-3 forward and the No. 30 prospect in the class from Wyoming, also has won back-to-back Gatorade awards. She averaged 18 points and 13.9 rebounds as a junior at Natrona County (Casper, Wyo.)
Did we mention that all three have GPAs of 4.0 or better?
