INSIDE THE STANFORD CARDINAL'S CLASS
A late and great signature from No. 1 prospect Haley Jones propels Tara VanDerveer's four-player class up to No. 2.
Jones is a gold medalist, a California Gatorade player of the year and a proven winner at Archbishop Mitty. She's also the gem of a Cardinal recruiting class that already was getting glowing reviews.
Ashten Prechtel, the No. 16 prospect, isn't the everyday 6-5 center. She's mobile and versatile on both offense and defense, and some have called her "Little Keith" because her game has similarities to the one her club coach, Keith Van Horn, used to showcase on NBA courts.
Fran Belibi, the No. 23 prospect, received national attention in 2017 when she became the first girl to dunk in a Colorado high school game. The 6-1 forward got international attention as a two-time gold medalist with USA Basketball. Belibi only started playing basketball as a high school freshman, so it's safe to say there's still a lot for her to learn.
Finally, there's Hannah Jump, who could reach the Stanford campus with a hop, skip and a jump from her high school at Pinewood in Los Altos. Jump, a shooter supreme, is best known in California for helping Pinewood pull off epic upsets of Archbishop Mitty and St. Mary's in the CIF Open Division playoffs.
