Nike Nationals-July 10: The left hander again provided a glimpse of some high post work and some range on her jumper. However her inside attack and reliability need to be better established before she starts stepping away from the rim. The irony is that she's strong, posts hard and gets to the line on a regular basis. With refined post moves and the confidence to stay down there and attack she'll be ultimately be a force hard to match up with. (Lewis)
Battle For The Boro-July 10: Rohde still has all the physical tools you could look for in a post but the left hander doesn't consistently exploit them in a dominant manner. The tendency is there to still take what the defense give her rather than create her own opportunities. She can be effective on the block and has impressive range for a player her size. Her ability to run the floor is there and she'll be there in transition. When her "take over" mentality catches up with her potential good things are going to happen. (Lewis)
Nike TOC-Dec. 09: In a recruiting world sorely lacking in legitimate post prospects, University of Arizona early commit Aley Rohde is a beacon of light. The Pinnacle (Ariz.) High School junior center offers both physical and basketball attributes that are topping most recruiters wish lists. Standing at a seemingly accurate 6-5, she has the size and build that can allow her to be a force at either end of the floor. She won't be winning any sprints but her speed is more than adequate and she gets out and runs the floor in transition. Her frame is one that will act like a sponge in the college strength and conditioning environment. While she struggled to finish at times, she demonstrated an ability to create her own shot and showed a knack for reading her defenders. The left hander will have to add more diversity in her low post attack to keep opponents honest and make herself a more consistent threat. That consistency will have to follow her to the free throw line as well where, despite her many trips, she encountered only marginal results.
End of the Trail - July 09: Aley Rohde had a record-breaking sophomore season for Pinnacle (Ariz.) High School and quickly is making a mark on the summer circuit as well. She gets a lot of her 6-5 height in the torso, runs a little too upright and is somewhat of a mechanical athlete, but she already is a good scorer and has basketball genes because her brother Taylor plays at Arizona State. Rohde does have legit size and uses it well in the lane, often getting to the foul line, where she was mostly on target. She also showed good mid-range accuracy with her lefty jumper. Hers is the kind of package that could make her one of the more hotly recruited posts in the West next year.
Cali Summer Games-July 09: There is one universal question college coaches always have: Do you know of any 6-3 or 6-4 kids that can play? Aley Rohde of the Arizona Lady Rebels is listed at 6-5 and the Pinnacle High School post can play. She's got a solid build and moves very well for her size. She shows solid footwork and plays with just the right amount of grace in her movement. With all her physical tools, you are left waiting for her to dominate. The Cave Creek, Ariz., native is one to watch and as she gets older look for her to impose her will on the opposition. (Hansen)
