ESPN Player Evaluations

USAB Trials-May 12: The 6-4 post player made her mark and earned a roster spot by rebounding the basketball and being an active presence on the floor. James will fill an immediate need for the team, providing depth at the center position, and she should act as an anchor on the defensive end with her ability to eat space in the post. While the center position may have been one of the thinnest in terms of number of kids invited to the trials, James had a strong showing this past weekend and earned a spot on the roster with her play. (Moore)

Deep South Classic-April 11: Built like Sylvia Fowles with the college ready body. Good hands around the paint and a maturing skill set that will come as she grows into her body. Will need to work on conditioning to stay in the game for longer stretches. Great Potential. (Gray)

Lots of size with a very solid build. Plays aggressively and utilizes a wide frame to be a presence at both ends. Has good hands and pulled in some errant passes. Skills are in place but not refined as of yet. Winded very easily and needed repeated breaks. If the conditioning comes she can become an impact player. (Lewis)

Battle for Rankings - Miami - Oct '10: Kids with mass and athletic fluidity and a super-soft touch around the basket are just so rare, their appearance almost begs to be heralded by trumpeting angels. Well, the heavens have parted and delivered such a prospect to South Florida. James not only is 6-4, strong and broad-shouldered, she produces inside buckets as if competing in an Easter egg toss -- with lots of care. Her first game out, she also spun at the elbow off the dribble and into a pull-up jumper. Considering some of the nits to pick in James' game, such displays seem almost extraneous. She isn't, for example, a natural shot-blocker or rebounder neither being much of a stretch for someone her size and girth. James also could use a "mean" lesson, though not at the cost of a shot so nice, it merely tickles the twine. (Nelson)
